Eagles Bats Get Hot Before Dropping Heartbreaker in Doubleheader

Kingsville, Texas - Oklahoma Christian () looked to take on Texas A&M University-Kingsville in a doubleheader in Kingsville on Saturday afternoon.

Game 2

Game two began with a pitching contest in the first four innings, as Brooks Snyder got the start for the Eagles. Snyder threw four no-hit innings for Oklahoma Christian before allowing the lone run and two hits of his outing in the fifth.

OC was able to get on the board first in the top of the fourth, led off by a lead-off double from Justin Spencer. Spencer advanced to third off a great sacrifice hit by Reed Carroll, and he scored off an RBI single to left field from Greg Maskarinec.

TAMUK tied the game up in the bottom of the fifth at 1-1, took the lead in the bottom of the sixth, and held on to win the opening game of the doubleheader.

Game 3

OC was first on the board in game three with an RBI from Hank Heiselbetz, hitting a single to center field and bringing JR Morrow in to score in the top of the third.

TAMUK was quick to answer, scoring two runs of their own in the home half of the third.

The Eagles got hot in the top of the fifth, starting with Sloan Laird stepping up in the batter's box with a few Eagles on base and hitting an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2.

Ethan Box kept the momentum going with a two-run RBI double to center, giving the Eagles the lead.

A few batters later, Reed Carroll would crush a three-run home run over the left field wall.

The Javelinas would get one run back in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 7-3.

The Eagles would score one more in the top of the seventh as Ethan Box would draw the walk, and Justin Spencer would launch a triple into right-center to extend the lead to five runs.

TAMUK's bats would get red hot in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 8-8 and send the game into extra innings.

The Javelinas would walk it off in the bottom of the eighth to take game three and clinch the series.
