Eagles Win Extra Inning Walk-Off Thriller Against Dustdevils

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian opened their home conference series against Texas A&M International at Dobson Field Friday evening.

Game 1
The first few innings were quick for both teams, with no runs scored on either side.

The Dustdevils were first to get on the board with a three-run inning.

In the bottom of the third, the Eagles were able to get on the board themselves. Ryan Talley got things started with a walk. Talley stole third base after a passed ball from the Dustdevils. Antonio Sabala hit a hard ball to right center for an RBI double.

This would pull the Eagles to within one, but the Dustdevils were able to put a few more on the board to extend their lead in the top of the fourth.

Pitching began to take over for both teams as no runs were scored til the bottom of the eighth.

Sabala got things started again for the Eagles in the bottom of the eighth by drawing a walk and, with some good base running, found himself on third base. Hunter Jones entered the batter's box and drew a walk. Connor Wyatt ripped a ball out to left field for an RBI single. The Eagles then tied the game up with Justin Spencer hitting a great ball down the right-field line to drive in both runners.

Johnny Behm made a diving catch in right field to end the half of the inning and give the Eagles a chance to walk it off.

In the bottom of the tenth inning, Alejandro Sanchez cranked a ball off the left-field wall for a double and put himself in scoring position. The Dustdevils then intentionally walked Justin Spencer to have Eagles on first and second base.
Johnny Behm hit the game-winning single into left field to give the Eagles an extra-inning walk-off victory.

Notes
  • Antonio Sabala led the Eagles in hitting with two doubles in 4 at-bats to go along with 1 RBI and 2 of the Eagles' runs.
  • Alejandro Sanchez pinch ran in the bottom of the 8th, scoring the Eagles' 5th run to tie the game. Then he hit a double in the bottom of the 10th and went on to score the Eagles 6th and winning run.
  • After falling behind early, the last five pitchers for OC put together a strong outing, allowing only two hits.
