Nikku and Benavides Earn Honors of This Week Tinker Federal Credit Union Eagle of the Week

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Both men's and women's golf teams were propelled to success last week by the individual performance of Oskari Nikku and Sofia Benavides. With these performances, the two have been honored with this week's Tinker Federal Credit Union Eagles of the Week. 

Oskari Nikku - Oskari led the Eagles to finish tied for second as a team with a three-day total of 844 at the Las Vegas Desert Classic while also tying for second individually, just one stroke behind first with a score of 204. Nikku shot an opening round even-par 72 to set himself up to shoot 66 in the next two rounds to claim this honor. Nikku racked up sixteen birdies and an Eagle over the three rounds.

With this finish, Oskari is now ranked No. 25 individually nationally and No. 8 regionally. 

Sofia Benavides - Sofia kicked off the opening round of the Diffee Ford Lincoln invitational with a 1-under 69 to set herself up to have a strong finish on day two 73 to claim the individual victory and help lead the Eagles to a comeback as a team and finish second over Central Oklahoma. 

This was Benavides's second collegiate victory, and she is now ranked no. 34 nationally and no. 13 regionally. 

Honorable Mention

Tori Justice bowled the first 300 for the women's bowling team on Friday night, on a weekend that earned the Lady Eagles an Intercollegiate Team Championships bid for the first time in program history.
