Eagles Dust up the Dustdevils in Doubleheader

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (10-6, 6-2) hosted Texas A&M International (5-11, 2-4) at Lawson Softball Complex for the Eagles home opening Lone Star Conference series.

Game 1

What Went Down

Through the first three innings of play, the Eagles and the Dustdevils were in a pitching battle, with neither team able to get their offense going.

The Eagles struck first by taking advantage of some mistakes made by the Dustdevils, putting runners on the bases.

Tristyn Hamilton led off and got on base, followed by a hard-hit RBI ball from Brooklin Bain into right field. With the right fielder unable to pick it up cleanly, Hamilton crossed home.

The Dustdevils were able to tie things up in the top of the sixth with a home run over the left field wall, their first hit of the game.

Going into the bottom of the seventh, Karsyn Iltis got the Eagles started with a hard-hit ball into right field and a perfectly placed bunt by Kylie Janzen to put runners on first and second for the Eagles.

Brooklin Bain stepped to the plate and knocked a hard grounder down the first base line to walk it off with an RBI single for the Eagles.

Game 2

What Went Down

Aaliyah Brown got the Eagles started in the bottom of the first with a solo home run over the left-center wall.

The hits would continue to come for the Eagles in the second inning as Kiley Janzen and Kristen Whitehouse would get on base and scored on a Tristyn Hamilton single to left field.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Eagles would blow the game open as Kiley Janzen and Kiley Brewster got on base as Brooklin Bain hit a high line drive off the left field fence that would turn into a 3-run RBI inside the park home run.

The inning wasn't over as Whitney Walde would get on base and would be driven home by an Aaliyah Brown double. Kate Paulsen would come in to run for Brown, and Karsyn Iltis would drive Paulsen in for the eighth run of the game for the Eagles.

OC's hot bats weren't the only reason for the win in game two, as Jill Dickson and Haylee Monden combined for a no-hitter for the Eagles.

Notes

  • Brooklin Bain was clutch at the plate for the Eagles all day, finishing with hits in 3 in 7 at-bats and bringing in 5 RBIs. This included her walk-off hit in game one and her inside-the-park home run in the second game.
