Eagles Fall Short in Late Comeback Against Hilltoppers for Senior Day in the Nest

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (4-19, LSC 3-16) played their final home game of the season by playing host to the Hilltoppers of St. Edward's (8-16, LSC 5-13).

First Quarter

The Eagles came out with a strong game plan, playing toe-to-toe with the Hilltoppers, as the two teams were even at eighteen at the end of the first ten minutes.

In her final basketball game as an Eagle, Brooklin Bain led the Eagles in the first quarter, scoring six points and grabbing five rebounds.

Second Quarter

The Hilltoppers found some momentum to start the second quarter, jumping out to a multi-possession lead, but the tides shifted as the Eagles went on a 15-0 run to end the first half and go into the locker room with a three-point lead.

Nine Eagles scored at least one bucket in the first, and the Eagles would need to keep that momentum going in the second half to finish the game.

Third Quarter

The Hilltoppers come out of the half and change the momentum to shift back their way, scoring twenty-six points in the quarter and grabbing a lead going into the last ten minutes of play in the Nest.

Bain would fight hard to keep the Eagles in the game, producing a double-double before the fourth quarter.

Fourth Quarter

The Eagles, led by seniors Asiyha Smith and Brooklin Bain, climbed their way to stay in the fight with the Hilltoppers but were unable to finish the comeback.

During the effort, Bain eclipsed her mother (Misti "Mitchell" Bain) on the All-Time Leaderboard in rebounding. Bain now sits alone at tenth with 776 rebounds in her career.

This game was the last home game for three great Eagles, Asiyha Smith, Keira Neal, and Brooklin Bain. All three Eagles will finish their playing careers in the next two weeks.

Notes

  • Brooklin Bain capped off a historic day with a 23-point, 16-rebound double-double.

  • Asiyha Smith finished her last game in the Nest with 19 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

  • Senior Keira Neal finished the game with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a career-high 6 steals.
