Eagles Rally in 8th Inning Before Falling to Bronchos 4-3, Rematch at Dobson Field Tomorrow

Edmond, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (2-7) traveled down the street to take on the Bronchos of Central Oklahoma (10-0) in a Saturday/Sunday home and home series.

What Went Down

After struggling to find some consistency on the mound this season, the OC pitching staff put together a strong outing against a red-hot Broncho team. Brooks Snyder got the start for the Eagles and was impressive from the get-go. Heading into the fourth inning, the junior pitcher had recorded 5 strikeouts with no runs allowed in what was a 0-0 game.

UCO was then able to get the bats going as the Eagles surrendered 2 runs before closing out the 4th. Naut Kragt then came in in relief for OC as the Eagles tried to extinguish the Bronchos offense. They would tack on two more before ending the fifth.

After a shaky start, Kragt was able to get comfortable and log 4 strikeouts in three innings pitched. The junior pitcher held off the Bronchos just long enough for the Eagles to rally behind the plate.

The Eagles entered the top of the 8th inning with a 4-0 deficit. After walking OC's 9-hole, Antonio Sabala, the Eagles put their first two runs on the board thanks to a pair of doubles by Michael Buckley and Ethan Box. Sloan Laird then drove in OC's third run of the inning on a single to right field before UCO was able to close out the inning.

UCO held on to its 4-3 advantage to take game one of the two-game series.

Notes
  • Hunter Jones picked up his second RBI of the season.
  • Sloan Laird added his third RBI of the season.
  • Ethan Box drove in his first RBI of the season.
  • Brooks Snyder didn't allow an earned run, only allowing one hit, and struck out seven Bronchos.
