Career Highs for Staten and Kennedy Propel Eagles to Revenge Win Over Rattlers

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (12-12, LSC 9-9) hosted St. Mary's (10-13, LSC 6-11) in the Nest Thursday night, beating them in a hard-fought, back-and-forth battle. 

First Half 

The Eagles found themselves with the lead early due to the hot hand of Hunter Staten. Staten was able to make plays in the paint early and gave the Eagles the early edge over the Rattlers. 

The Rattlers would have a few runs and eventually grab the lead from the Eagles. 

Midway through the first half, Bryce Kennedy and Nickolas Traylor would come off the bench and provide a spark for the Eagles' offense. 

The Eagles would go into the half with a nine-point lead. 

Second Half 

The Eagles and Rattlers would go on to have a back-and-forth physical twenty minutes of play. 

The Rattlers began to fight back and took the lead late in the game before the Eagles took control and got up by multiple possessions, sealing the victory. 

The career performances of Bryce Kennedy and Hunter Staten led the Eagles.

  • Hunter Staten led the Eagles with a game-high and career-high 24 points to go along with his 9 boards and a career-high 6 blocks.

  • Bryce Kennedy also had a big night, putting up his career-high 19 points

  • OC put on a shooting clinic, hitting 49.2% from the field and 46.7% from three

  • Four of OC's five starters ended the game in double-figures

Up Next 

The Eagles will host St. Edward's on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the home finale of the season. OC will also honor six outstanding seniors.
