CJ Petrin after the 2024 Hoosier Classic

Men's Bowling

Men’s and Women’s Bowling Has a Big Weekend at Hoosier Classic

Indianapolis, Ind. - The men and women competed in the 55th Hoosier Classic, with the men finished 3rd and the women coming in 2nd.

Men's Weekend Notes

This is the largest and toughest college tournament in the country, featuring 78 men's teams and 66 women's teams compete to put their stamp on a masking unit and take home the coveted Hoosier Classic Tier I title.

The men's team led by all-tournament team CJ Petrin qualified 7th and would take down powerhouse Wichita State in the first round before being eliminated by the eventual champion Lawrence Tech.

Thoughts on the Men's Weekend from Head Coach James Hayes
The men came out and put on a strong performance this weekend. The Hoosier Classic is the largest collegiate tournament with all the top ranked teams competing. CJ had another great tournament, making All Tournament Team, just falling short of being MVP. The men now wait for post season announcements to see where they will be going. We have a few things that we need to work on if we want to have a chance to make it to the Intercollegiate Team Championships.

Women's Weekend Notes
The Lady Eagles, led by Claire McDermott, who was named to the all-tournament team, qualified 5th going into match play. The Eagles grabbed two huge wins over Mount Mercy and Pikeville before falling in the championship to Wichita State.
The Lady Eagles are back in action next week in Jonesboro, Arkansas, while the men finished their regular season and wait for sectional announcements.

Thoughts on the Women's Weekend from Head Coach James Hayes
I am proud of how the ladies bounced back this weekend at the Hoosier Classic. The ladies were led by Claire McDermott, making her first All-Tournament Team. It is quite the accomplishment just to make match play, but to make it all the way to the championship is quite impressive. I am proud of how the ladies continue to fight week in and week out, given some tough circumstances.
