EDMOND. Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (4-4, LSC 1-3) hosted Angelo State (5-3, LSC 3-1) for the Lone Star Conference afternoon weekend match-up. Despite the Lady Eagles holding the lead into the fourth quarter, they would fall to the Rambelles in an overtime thriller 81-78.
First Quarter (OC 21 - ASU 18)Â
The Lady Eagles start the game with eight quick points, coming from an opening layup from Taylor Jackson. Nakia Cullom and Jackson hit back-to-back three-pointers for the Lady Eagles to help fuel the growing lead.Â
Oklahoma Christian played fast defense to pressure the Rambelles to hold them to just four points in the first four minutes of play.Â
Oklahoma Christian would grow the lead to eight in the first quarter before the Rambelles fought back to grab a lead late in the first quarter. This lead would not last long, as Kate Bradley released a three-pointer to take the lead back just before the end of the first quarter.Â
Second Quarter (OC 36 - ASU 32)Â
Freshman Ciara Harris, off the bench for the Lady Eagles, gave a spark to the offense, scoring six in the second quarter, pushing her way through the paint and finding ways to the basket. With Harris' basket penetration, the Lady Eagles guards could find some open shots, as Kate Bradley and Caitlynn Jordan found chances to hit an open three in the quarter.Â
Oklahoma Christian entered halftime with a four-point lead over Angelo State.Â
Third Quarter (OC 57 - ASU 48)Â
Taylor Jackson began the second half with a new fire, scoring the first eleven points for the Lady Eagles and pushing the OC lead to double-digits. Jackson would account for 13 of the 21 points scored by the Lady Eagles in the third quarter, accounting for 50% of the team's rebounds with seven of her own.Â
Fourth Quarter (OC 70 - ASU 70)Â
Angelo State would only go down with a fight behind the scoring of the team-leading scorer, Madeline Stephens, scoring eight in the quarter and holding the Lady Eagles to their lowest quarter of the day.Â
With just 7.2 left in the game, Jordan Francisco drew a foul at the basket and knocked down both foul shots. Angelo State was able to draw a foul of their own and hit two shots to send the game into overtime.
Overtime (OC 78 - ASU 81)Â
Despite the Lady Eagles hitting clutch three after clutch three, the career scoring of ASU's Addy Burns and Madi Lumsden lifted the Rambelles over Oklahoma Christian with the 81-78 victory.Â
