Young Sets Scoring Mark as Eagles Fall to Harding, 98-87

SEARCY, Ark. - Oklahoma Christian dropped its final out-of-conference game of the 2024-25 season against the Harding Bisons, 98-87. The Eagles were outscored in the points-off-turnovers battle, 32-4, as OC committed 20 turnovers compared to just nine for the Bisons.

Keyondre Young became the first Eagle to score 20 or more points in three consecutive games since Jordan Box in the 2018-19 season, closing OC's final non-conference game with 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including going 5-of-7 from long range. During this three-game scoring barrage, Young has shot 71.4 percent (15-of-21) from three-pointer range.

Marco Foster matched Young from beyond the perimeter with five triples while adding three free-throws for a season-high 18 points. Bryce Kennedy also recorded a season-high with 18 points on an efficient 8-of-11 (72.7 percent) shooting.

Kennedy scored the first four points of the game before a Harding 9-0 run handed the Bisons the lead for the remainder of the first half. The Eagles were able to land two more ties in the opening 20 minutes before HU built an 11-point lead just before the under-eight media timeout.

Oklahoma Christian responded to a nine-point deficit with 2:36 left until intermission with back-to-back threes from Young. The immediate shift in momentum saw OC climb back to cut the deficit to two before teams headed into the locker room, 48-46.

A Young three-pointer seconds into second-half action gave OC its first lead since early in the game, but the Eagles proceeded to go two minutes of game time without a field-goal as Harding was able to re-establish the double-digit lead at the 16:42 mark, 61-51.

Both teams traded baskets the rest of the way with OC unable to get within seven over the final 17 minutes of play. Young's fifth three of the contest with just over 60 seconds remaining brought the margin to single digits before a pair of Bisons free-throws brought the game to its 11-point difference, 98-87.

Oklahoma Christian closes the non-conference portion of its slate with a 3-2 record before now turning to conference play when OC hits the road against Eastern New Mexico and No. 3 West Texas A&M Thursday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 7, respectively.
