EDMOND, Okla. - For the fourth consecutive meeting, Oklahoma Christian reached the 100-point threshold against Randall University with OC's 106-77 victory Saturday night from inside the Payne Athletic Center.
Former Oklahoma high school standout and State Champion
Keyondre Young flexed his muscle against the in-state opponent, scoring a collegiate career high 27 points, hitting 10-of-14 shots from the field, including a perfect 5-for-5 from long range. Coming into tonight, Young's high came as a sophomore at Triton College, where he scored 25 points.
In addition to Young, all 12 Eagles on the active roster scored Saturday evening as
Marco Foster backed up Young with 17.
Tyrus Baynham posted a 15-point, 8-rebound showing while
Nickolas Traylor claimed 11 to round out the OC double-digit scorers. 64 of OC's 106 points came in the paint, dominating in that area, 64-28.
With it being only a five-point game at the first media timeout, Oklahoma Christina turned it on over the next four-minute stint, growing its lead to 13, 31-18, at the next media break. Over the next five minutes, the three ball began to fall for Young and Foster as the duo nailed all four of their triples during that stretch to double up Randall, 46-22.
The Eagles defense held the Saints without a field-goal for the final 2:30 of the opening half before heading into the break with the 61-32 advantage. Young (19) and Foster (17), who both recorded their season-highs in the first half, combined for 36 points. The 2021 Oklahoma Player of the Year shot 70 percent (7-of-10) from the field, including connecting on all four three-point field-goals.
The game never got within 22 points the rest of the way. With the Saints closing the gap to 22 with 2:34 remaining in the game, true freshman
Josh Aiken, junior transfer
Jayce Daniels sophomore
Carson Thomas all get in the board in the final 120 seconds to round out the complete scoring effort. Sophomore
Steven Holland contributed to the all-out assault with four points as well. Â
