Jackson Opens 2024-25 Season with Double-Double as Second Half Comeback Falls Short

EDMOND, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (0-1, 0-0 LSC) opened up their 2024-25 season in the Nest, hosting East Central (1-0, 0-0 GAC). The Tigers would jump out to a quick lead and fend off the Lady Eagles comeback to win the in-state non-conference match-up.

Quarter 1

The Lady Eagles struggled to find a rhythm on the offensive side of the ball. It took them until late into the sixth minute of play to get on the board.

Junior forward Taylor Jackson tried to turn the energy around on the defensive side of the ball, blocking two shots and forcing several of the Tiger's attempts to miss wide.

The Tigers were able to control the first ten minutes of the game, winning the rebounding battle 9-4 and converting off of Lady Eagle turnovers.

Quarter 2

Coming out of the huddle for the second quarter, the Lady Eagles found a new rhythm behind the freshman Ciara Harris led the Eagles, scoring four in the quarter. Jackson continued to make things happen on the defensive end out rebounding the whole of the Tigers, with six and dishing out two assists.

OC outscored ECU in the second quarter to pull within single digits and went into the half down 30-22.

Quarter 3

The Lady Eagles came out in the second half with a new fire, led by senior Nakia Cullom, scoring seven to start the half. OC tied the game just after the media timeout, this came from a few clutch three-pointers from Kate Bradley, and Taylor Jackson

Off the bench in the final two minutes of the third quarter, Kendall Brown would give the Lady Eagles their first lead of the game.

The Tigers not backing down from the fight would retake the lead to end the third.

Quarter 4

OC began the final 10 minutes of play by taking the lead in the first possession from a three-pointer from Caitlynn Jordan

Bradley and Jackson took over the game, as the Lady Eagles and Tigers battled it out, going into the final minute of the game with ECU leading 62-61.

Despite the impressive comeback from the Lady Eagles, they would fall short in the season opener 66-63 to ECU.
