Jones Logs Seventh Double-Double as OC Falls to Rattlers, 3-0

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Through the opening 14 matches of the season, true freshman Chloe Jones has recorded double-double in half of them as the first-year college player recorded 10 kills and 18 digs, pacing the team in both categories.

Despite Jones' seventh career double-double, Oklahoma Christian fell on the road against St. Mary's Friday night, 3-0.

In addition to Jones' team-leading numbers, the Waukee, Iowa, native has hit .200 or better in four consecutive matches. Fellow outside hitter Riley Daugherty followed behind Jones with nine kills as she is now two winners away from 1000 career kills.

Lauren Cary recorded a season-high five blocks in an effort to bolster an Eagles defense that allowed St. Mary's to hit .316 for the match.

Oklahoma Christian (8-6, 0-3 LSC) opening the night with the first two points courtesy of kills from Daugherty and Cary, but a 7-1 run from the Rattlers allowed the home team to regain the lead before OC fought back for a 14-14 tie. A mini three-point spurt late in the opening stanza helped StMU prevail in the opening set, 25-21.

St. Mary runs to erase OC leads showed to be a recurring theme over the next two sets. The Eagles held a brief 10-9 second-set advantage before an 11-3 Rattler run yielded an eventual 25-16 second-set victory.

Later in the third set, Oklahoma Christian held its largest lead of the night at 12-7 before an 8-1 run erased that lead. Both teams traded points over the next couple minutes before a back-breaking 6-0 burst turned an 18-18 deadlock to a 24-18 St. Mary's advantage before taking it, 25-19.

Oklahoma Christian will now head north before meeting up with St. Edward's for the second time this season Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.
