EDMOND, Okla. - After falling behind by two sets, Oklahoma Christian fought back to force a winner-take-all fifth set before Texas Woman's eventually prevailed for the 3-2 win Friday night inside the Payne Athletic Center.
Katy Geurin matched her season-high with 11 kills while hitting .269.
Annie Davis led the team with her fifth double-digit kill outing with 15 winners.
Chloe Jones recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 12 digs.
The Eagles allowed the Pioneers to hit .419 and .357 in the first two sets for TWU to open the 2-0 set lead. Over the next two sets, however, Texas Woman's hit just .169 as OC began the comeback.
Contrary to TWU, Oklahoma Christian improved its hitting numbers in the third and fourth sets, including a .250 fourth-set average that saw the Eagles dominate, 25-17. With the crowd behind the home team, play moved to a decisive fifth set.
Texas Woman's held the early fifth-set lead before OC, as it had done all night, fought back from a two-point deficit to take just its second lead of the stanza, 8-7. Unfortunately, the Pioneers still had a bit of fight in them, mounting a 6-1 run to take a commanding 13-9 lead.
Two of the final three points when the visitor's way as Oklahoma Christian dropped to 14-8 overall and 4-5 in league play. The Eagles will return to the Payne Athletic Center Saturday, Oct. 26 when they face Midwestern State for a 2 p.m. first serve.
