Bradley Hits Late Three to Give Eagles a Chance Against Patriots

TYLER, TX- Oklahoma Christian  (2-8, LSC 1-5) opened the 2024 part of their season by taking on University of Texas at Tyler (12-3, LSC 6-0) on Thursday evening. 

FIRST QUARTER

The Eagles struggled to get the scoring going in the first quarter. And with the Patriots starting off hot, the Eagles found themselves down by 12 going into the second quarter. Guard Brooklin Bain did get off to a good start, shooting 2-3 from the three point line in the quarter. 

SECOND QUARTER 

In the second quarter the Eagles began to turn things around. OC found offense off the bench, as four players off the bench combined for seven points in the quarter. Guard Kate Bradley had a big quarter, scoring six off two three-point shots. The Eagles fought back to go into the half down six.

THIRD QUARTER 

The Eagles and Patriots had a defensive battle in the third quarter. Scoring was tough to come by, but the Eagles were led by Brooklin Bain and Taylor Jackson, who both dropped four in the quarter. 

FOURTH QUARTER 

Led by a ten point quarter from Asiyha Smith, the Eagles came back to tie the game late. The Patriots would grab a four point lead again as they were able to hit clutch free throws. With eleven seconds left, Kate Bradley hit a shot from behind the three point line to pull the Eagles within one. After a quick foul, where the Patriots only managed to hit one. Coach Brown and the Eagles drew up and executed a great play to tie the game with two seconds on the clock. The Eagles would get called for a foul on the UTT inbound attempt that would give the Patriots two shots from the line to end the game.

NOTES 

  • Asiyha Smith finished the game with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Smith found herself at the foul line 5 times and shot 8-11 from the charity strip. 

  • Brooklin Bain also scored 16 points in the game and grabbed 4 boards. 

  • Kate Bradley went 3-6 from the deep and finished the game with 12 points and 3 rebounds. 

  • Daijiah Torns scored 5 points and grabbed 3 boards. 

  • Coming off the bench Jordan Francisco played 14 minutes and was a key player down low grabbing 4 rebounds. 

  • Also coming off the bench and playing major roles in the game, Taylor Jackson and Trinity Dobbs both dropped 5 points. 

UP NEXT

OC will stay in Texas on Saturday as they look to take on another tough conference opponent with Texas Woman's University. Tip off will be set for 2 p.m.
