Oklahoma City, Okla- Oklahoma Christian (3-14, LSC 2-11) hosted a physical and gritty matchup against Midwestern State (5-14, LSC 2-7) in the Nest Saturday afternoon.
First Quarter
The Lady Eagles opened the quarter by hitting three consecutive threes to draw the game even at 9-9. Kate Bradley went 2-3 from beyond the arc in the quarter, and Asiyha added the third three. After the barrage from the Eagles, the Mustangs responded with a 12-5 advantage, taking a 21-14 lead into the second quarter.
Second Quarter
Midwestern State spent the first half of the second quarter extending its largest lead of the half at 31-20, but thanks to hustle plays on the defensive end, OC erased a part of that lead as the quarter came to a close.
The Eagles were led by the gritty play of Taylor Jackson, who after taking a hard fall, returned and played some tough minutes, making several hustle plays for OC off the bench.
OC ended the half on an 8-2 run, cutting the halftime score to 39-35, with seven Eagles scoring in the quarter, and led by Kate Bradley with 7 points. Bradley led the Eagles with 13 points in the first half,
Third Quarter
Oklahoma Christian clawed back in the quarter and took the lead on Bradley's 5th three of the game at 52-49 with 3:36 left in the quarter. The three gave Bradley a new career-high of 21 points in the game.
After the three, Midwestern State started face-guarding Bradley, stifling the Eagles' offense to take a 58-53 lead into the final ten minutes.
Fourth Quarter
The Eagles came off the bench ready for the fight in the last ten minutes of play and tied the game up with three minutes left to play.
Down one with forty-five seconds left, the Eagles brought the ball down, and off an offensive rebound, Brooklin Bain drew a foul below the basket. Bain made one to tie the game up with eighteen seconds left.
The Mustangs worked the ball down low and scored to grab the lead. The Eagles drove the ball down with eight seconds left and took the last shot that fell short.
