Oklahoma City, Okla - Oklahoma Christian (9-10, LSC 6-7) hit a last-second shot at home to beat Midwestern State University (12-7, LSC 6-7) Saturday in the Nest.
First Half
The Eagles came out looking to crash the boards well, grabbing fourteen in the twelve minutes of play, six of those coming on the offensive board, and the Eagles were able to get six points on the putbacks.
Miles Gibson came off the bench and was a spark for the Eagles, including a statement dunk over a defender. Gibson finished the half with six points.
Three other Eagles had six points in the half as the Eagles and the Mustangs finished the first half tied at twenty-eight points.
Second Half
Both teams came out of the half looking to play a fast and physical game. In the first ten minutes of the half, the Eagles and the Mustangs traded baskets back and forth with multiple lead changes and even more ties.
With just under four minutes to play, the Eagles found themselves down by one, needing to grab the lead and close out the game.
With just over thirty seconds left in the game, the Mustangs drove down, and off a missed shot rebound and an attempted putback, they were able to get to the foul line. MSU hit one of the two at the line, giving the Eagles a chance to win the game with a three.
Quinton Johnson was able to fight through contact and nail a three from the top of the key to give the Eagles a one-point lead with eight seconds remaining.
Javon Grant won the game on the other end, came up with a huge block at the buzzer
to seal the game for the Eagles at home.
