Hot Three-Point Shooting Keeps Eagles in Late Battle Against Aggies

Oklahoma City, Okla- Oklahoma Christian (3-13, LSC 2-10) looked to capitalize off Saturday's win as they hosted Cameron University (7-11, LSC 5-7) Thursday night in the Nest. 

First Quarter 

Sluggish shooting plagued both teams at the start of the game. Ahniya Melton finally got things started for the Eagles, getting a contested layup to fall off the assist from Aliyah Smith. 

Brooklin Bain found her game, as she got a bucket to fall with as the whistle blew for the foul and knocked down the free throw for the three-point play. 

Second Quarter 

In the second quarter, the Eagles got the shooting going as Kate Bradley hit two from long range, and Nakia Cullom led the Eagles to grab a four-point lead at the half.

Cullom led the Eagles, scoring thirteen points on five of seven shooting, including three from behind the three-point line. 

Third Quarter 

Brooklin Bain kept things going for the Eagles, scoring eight in the quarter, and the hot shooting of Nakia Cullom helped the Eagles take a one-point lead into the last ten minutes of the game. 

Fourth Quarter 

The Aggies began to find their groove in the fourth quarter to grab the lead midway through the quarter. 

With just 20 seconds left, Kate Bradley hit a three to bring the Eagles within two points. The Aggies were able to make one of the free throws and hold off the Eagles to win by three points. 

Notes

  • Nakia Cullom led the Eagles with 17 points, 6 rebounds and a steal.

  • Kate Bradley hit 4 from long range, dropping 12 in the game. Bradley also dished out 7 assists and grabbed 6 boards.

  • Brooklin Bain finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds. 

  • Taylor Jackson finished with 3 points and 6 rebounds.

The Eagles will host Midwestern State University on Saturday, January 27th, where tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
