Four Eagles Score in Double Figures in Gritty Battle Before Aggies Hold On to Win

Oklahoma City, Okla- Oklahoma Christian (8-10, LSC 5-7) hosted in-state conference foes Cameron University (12-6, LSC 8-4) Thursday night in the Nest.

First Half

The first 20 minutes of play came as a back-and-forth battle between the two teams. The match-up in all the stat categories is even from the jump.

OC got things started by trying to work the ball into the paint, finding Hunter Staten three times for tough layups down low.

They found their spark midway through the half, as Shane Perales came off the bench and hit two long-range three-pointers. Perales also powered his way to the basket for a momentum-shifting and-one, finishing the half with thirteen points and leading all scorers at the break.

Second Half

The Aggies came out of the locker room looking to grab the momentum and come back from a small deficit.

Cameron saw double figures scoring from three players and took the lead midway through the second half.

Hunter Staten and Quinton Johnson fought hard to keep the Eagles in the game, scoring a combined twenty-four points, but OC missed a few too many free throws to fight their way back in the game.

Notes

  • Hunter Staten led the Eagles with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, a block, and a steal.

  • Quinton Johnson scored 15 with 5 rebounds and a block.
