Eagles Look To Capitalize off This Past Weekend Wins, With Two Home Wins This Week

Oklahoma City, Okla- Oklahoma Christian (3-12, LSC 2-9) is coming off a big win this past Saturday and will look to keep momentum building with two home games this week before making the final push in February for the postseason. 

The Eagles will host Cameron University (6-11, LSC 4-7) for the midweek game and Midwestern State University (4-13, LSC 4-7) for the weekend game. 

What To Know About OC 

  • Coach Markeith Brown is in his second season as the Lady Eagles head coach. 

  • The Lady Eagles were picked to finish 9th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll.

  • Leading the way for the Lady Eagles is senior guard Brooklin Bain. Bain is averaging 14.3 points per game and 8 rebounds. Bain has recorded 5 double-doubles in the 15 games so far this season. Bain also sits 10th in conference scoring and 6th in rebounding.

  • Graduate student guard Asiyha Smith is providing the Eagles with quality possession, averaging 12.1 points per game and 2.6 assists. Smith has had 10 games scoring in double digits. Smith is coming off her highest-scoring single game against St. Mary's with 21 points.

  • The Lady Eagles have also seen good production from redshirt sophomore Taylor Jackson, who, coming off the bench, has provided production on both ends of the court, including four games scoring at least 13 points and being a force on the boards.

  • The Eagles have seen an uptick in production from junior guard Jordan Francisco, who in the last 3 games, scored 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. 

  • The Eagles currently sit 2 games outside the top 8 in the conference standings, with the top 8 teams making the Lone Star Conference tournament.

What To Know About Cameron 

  • Jeff Mahoney is in his second season as the head coach at Cameron. Mahoney was on staff as an assistant coach for the three seasons before being named head coach.

  • Cameron is sitting at 6-11 overall with a conference record of 4-7. The team is coming off a big win at home over Angelo State. 

  • Cameron sits 9th in the conference, just one game outside the 8th spot. 

  • The Aggies are being led by Katie King. King is averaging 14.9 points per game, 2 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.7 steals. King is currently 8th in the conference in scoring. 

  • Shamica Smith is making an impact in each game for the Aggies, averaging 13.7 points and 8.9 rebounds a game. Smith is sitting in 3rd in the conference for rebounds. 

  • Cameron is also relying on the production of Karie Allenworth, who averages 11.8 points, 1.6 assists. 4.4 rebounds, and 1 steal a game. 

Last year against Cameron 

  • The Eagles and the Aggies played once last year, with the Aggies getting the 52-61 victory in Lawton, OK. 

    • The Aggies were led by Katie King, who finished with 17 points, Karie Allenworth, scoring 13 points, and Kiara Lovings, who scored 10 in the Aggies victory. 

    • Kailyn Lay, Alena Wilson, and Korie Allensworth also had big performances on the boards, combined for 19 rebounds. 

    • The Eagles were led by Brooklin Bain, who led all scorers with 19. 

    • Kate Bradley scored 12 points, and Nakia Cullom finished with 6 points and 9 rebounds to help keep the Eagles in the game.

What To Know About Midwestern State

  • Brenita Jackson is in her first season as head coach at Midwestern. Jackson has had success at the NAIA level, leading Texas Wesleyan to the NAIA National Tournament 2 years in a row. 

  • Midwestern State currently has an overall record of 4-13 and a conference record of 4-7. The Mustangs are currently on a 3-game losing streak and sit tied for 9th in the conference, one game outside the top 8. 

  • The Mustangs have two players inside the top 10 in scoring in the Lone Star. Zarria Carter sits 4th, averaging 16.5 points per game, and Kertisa Amos sits 6th, averaging 15.6 points per game. 

  • Carter, along with her great scoring, is also averaging 10.9 rebounds a game. Carter has accounted for 8 double-doubles, 2 games scoring 30+, and another 5 games scoring at least 20 points.
