Eagles Battle Back Against Hot-Shooting Rattlers Before Dramatic Ending Goes St. Mary’s Way

San Antonio, Texas - Oklahoma Christian looked to pick up yet another road win this week with a matchup at St. Mary's and battled to the wire in a dramatic finish.

First Half
The Rattles came out of the gate with a hot hand, scoring sixteen before the first media time-out.

After the hot shooting start from the Rattlers, the Eagles saw a run of their own, chipping away at the lead, getting within six of the lead.

The Eagles moved the ball well and saw scoring from up and down the roster, with six Eagles getting at least a bucket in the first half.

The rest of the half, OC and St. Mary's began to trade punches on the offensive side of the ball. The Eagles slowly began to chip away at the lead more.

Quinton Johnson caused the Rattlers to lose control of the ball, and after a foul that put Johnson at the foul line, the game was tied at forty-three.

The Eagles would go into half just down two points. Moun'Tae Edmundson and Hunter Staten, who combined for nineteen points, led the Eagles into the break.

Second Half
In the second half, OC found themselves in a similar situation as they were Thursday, falling behind by nine early in the half and then again by seven with 5:48 remaining, but just like Thursday, Oklahoma Christian battled its way back into the game.

OC cut it to a one-possession game at 75-73, with 2:15 remaining on a Staten layup, and held that distance at 77-75 with 45 seconds left.

That score held to an appearance at the free throw line for the Eagles with 4 seconds on the clock, and after missing the first free throw, the Eagles intentionally missed the second. The ensuing battle for the loose ball was chaotic, and out of the chaos, Johnson emerged and looked to tie the game on a layup in the final second.

But during the fight for the ball, a timeout was called, wiping away the layup, and out of the timeout, a layup attempt saw a lot of contact and the ball blocked, leading to a dramatic win for St. Mary's
