OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian women's soccer (4-0-2, LSC 0-0-1) opened in Lone Star Conference play at Eagle Soccer Field with a 1-1 draw against West Texas A&M (1-2-3, LSC 0-0-1).
WHAT WENT DOWN
- Each team tested the opposing keeper early. Brooklyn Fink put a shot on frame that needed to be saved and missed a shot wide right after that. West Texas tested Breanna Wooten in the 8th minute, but she was able to clean that up as well.
- WT found the back of the net on a shot from forty yards out that came out of nowhere to give WT the lead.
- OC's defense stifled the Buffs the rest of the way, only allowing one more shot in the first half and a single shot in the second half.
- Raquel Fanelli tied the match in the 23rd minute with a beautiful cross from Holland Reece for a header. The goal was Fanelli's second goal of the season, and the assist was Reece's first.
- With the score knotted up at the halfway point, Oklahoma Christian came out firing in the second half, with ten shots and four on goal.
- Two of the Eagles' best chances came in the final minute when a Fink free kick went off the woodwork, and a Kenley Stockton shot on the deflection was saved as time expired.
NOTES
- Oklahoma Christian continued its best start since 2009, continuing the undefeated season with the draw.
- WT's goal was just the second goal scored on OC this season.
- Fink led the Eagles in shots with seven, including three on goal.
