OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (1-0) opened the season Saturday afternoon at Eagle Soccer Field with a matchup against Missouri Southern (0-2) of the MIAA conference.
Â
The Eagles set the tone early, coming out with a physical presence that led to a start-to-finish dominant performance in all facets of the game. OC's defense only allowed two shots on goal, and neither was a threat, leading to
Ashlee Jackson's fourth career clean sheet.
Â
While the tone was set in the first half, the Eagles went into the locker room tied, but
Brooklyn Fink changed that early in the second half. In the 48th minute, she lined up a free kick from just inside midfield and launched a ball to the right upper ninety over the outstretched hand of the MSSU goalkeeper.
Â
Seventeen minutes later, Brooklyn earned a brace when she lined up another free kick just a few yards in front of her first one, and this time scored in the left upper ninety.
Raquel Fanelli joined the scoring barrage five minutes later, with a goal on a header on a beautiful ball from
Kyla Lovelace.
Â
Zoe Ross kept the scoring going to the final seconds, adding her first goal of the season after some
Mady Castro magic led to a one-on-one opportunity for Ross.
Â
OC's 4-0 win is the first season-opening win since 2017 and the largest margin of victory in a season opener in the DII era.
