Tyler, Texas - The Eagles and Patriots matched up for the second time in six days in what turned out to be a pitcher's duel at Irwin Ballpark.
Payton Foster, who spent the beginning of her career at UT Tyler, got the start in the circle, spinning six scoreless innings while striking out three Tyler batters.
Oklahoma Christian sprayed three hits across the game, including a first-inning
Whitney Walde single, a
Brooklin Bain double, and a
Boo Robinson infield single on a bunt laid perfectly down the third baseline.
Robinson's bunt single moved
Kylie Janzen, who reached base on a walk over to second base, leading to a
Kiley Brewster fielder's choice moving Janzen to third.
Marissa Powell pinch-hit with runners on the corners and got all of a pitch that looked destined for the gap before the shortstop speared it. The caught line drive turned into a double play to end the OC threat.
Bain's double came with one out in the bottom of the sixth, she moved to third on the second out of an inning, and
Kristen Whitehouse battled in an at-bat to bring Bain home before flying out.
UTT put runners on base with two walks, a hit by pitch, and two singles in the top of the seventh, scoring on a walk and a single. The two runs would go on to be the final score.
