Softball advances to Championship Saturday with a 5-1 victory over LCU

Tyler, Texas - Oklahoma Christian matched up with Lubbock Christian for the second time in as many days, and this time OC knocked the LCU out of the Regional with a 5-1 win to advance to the Championship series.

The Eagles struck early, getting on the board in the first inning by stringing together three consecutive hits to begin the game. Brooklin Bain reached on a double in the leadoff spot, her first of two doubles on the day. Whitney Walde moved her to third on a bunt single, and Kristen Whitehouse drove Bain home with an RBI single through the left side of the infield.

Whitehouse went 3-4 in the game, with two doubles, the RBI, and she scored a run.

In the third inning, the Kylie (Kiley)'s did the work to extend OC's lead. Kylie Janzen reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second and third on a fielder's choice from Boo Robinson, which led to an error. Kiley Brewster brought Janzen home on an RBI sacrifice fly, giving the Eagles the 2-0 lead.

Bain's second double of the game drove in Tristyn Hamilton, who was moved into scoring position by a Hannah Pate sacrifice bunt, as the Eagles continued to pull away.

Jill Dickson cruised to her 15th complete game and 22nd win of the year, only allowing one run on four hits and striking out four Chaps.

Whitehouse's second double of the game led to Oklahoma Christian's first home run of the regional, a two-run home run to right field off the bat of Kylie Janzen. Janzen went 2-4 on the day with two runs and two RBIs.

Janzen's home run gave the Eagles a 5-0 lead before a solo home run put LCU on the board with its lone run of the game.
