Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Eagles and Rattlers moved the doubleheader up to try to avoid the rain, and they gave themselves enough time to get a game and three innings in at Tom Heath Field.
Â
Jill Dickson started in the circle and allowed just one hit in the first three innings, facing just one above the minimum.
Â
In the fourth inning, the Rattlers struck first, scoring on a two-run home run to left field to take a 2-0 lead.
Â
Oklahoma Christian loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth but didn't bring a run across. That issue didn't last long though, as Dickson worked around a one-out single, picking up her first strikeout of the game.
Â
OC's offense continued putting runners on base, and this time it led to runs, with
Brooklin Bain leading off with a single, and
Whitney Walde putting runners on second and third with a double.
Â
Aaliyah Brown got the Eagles on the board with a sacrifice fly RBI, and
Kristen Whitehouse stepped up and hit a two-run bomb to give Oklahoma Christian the 3-2 lead.
Â
Payton Foster entered the circle in the top of the 6th, and protected the lead, only allowing one hit while striking out two Rattlers, to pick up her first save of the season.
Â
With the win, Dickson secured her 18th win of the season, keeping her in a tie for the second most in the Lone Star Conference.
Â
Game two was postponed and will resume tomorrow morning at 11:30, with Oklahoma Christian batting with runners on 1st and 2nd with one out.
