Rodriguez wins first individual title, Eagles earn a spot in final four as the two seed

Thackerville, Okla. - Just a few days after becoming the first Lone Star Conference Player of the Year from Oklahoma Christian, Exequiel Rodriguez accomplished another first by winning the individual title at the Lone Star Conference Championships.

Rodriguez had the lowest round of the tournament with a 65 in his first round and filled out his card with a 70-73 in the final two rounds to shoot 8-under. Exequiel did so under pressure as Garrett Leek of Midwestern State made a push in the final round, but Exequiel held him off, securing the individual title. Rodriguez also led the field in eagles with two on his card.

Mateo Pulcini and Santiago Villareal finished in the top ten, tying for seventh place after shooting even par during their three rounds. Pulcini tied for the most birdies with 14 in his three rounds.

Alejandro Armijo finished T16 with a low round of 70 in his final round for a three-round total of 219 (+3). Armijo tied for the fourth most birdies, with 11 total on his card. Oskari Nikku shot 74-70-78 for a total of 222 to finish T28, and Nikku was one of twelve individuals to have an eagle on his card.

As a team, Oklahoma Christian took second place to earn a spot in the final four, which will take place tomorrow at 8 a.m. in Thackerville. The Eagles shot 281-283-289 for a total of 853 (-11) to earn the second seed. OC held the lead most of the day before a late surge from Midwestern State gave them the top-seed at 12-under.
