Eagles take an early lead before falling against the Javelinas

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Eagles set out today to split the series against the Javelinas of Texas A&M Kingsville, but the hot bats of Kingsville led them to a series victory.

Blake Empkey picked up two strikeouts in the top of the first, and the Eagles got on the board first in the bottom of the inning. Hank Heiselbetz drew a lead-off walk before trading places with Grant Lake, who reached on a fielder's choice. Hunter Jones followed that with a single, and Marcus Johnson moved Jones and Lake to second and third with a groundout. A couple of pitches later, Jones scored on a wild pitch to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead after one.

Kingsville loaded the bases and scored on an RBI walk and an RBI single, but OC navigated the situation, only allowing the two runs.

With two outs in the bottom of the third, OC rallied with singles from Jaren Hill and Connor Jackson, and Hank Heiselbetz brought them both home on a two-RBI triple. The triple gave OC a 3-2 lead and were Heiselbetz's 8th and 9th RBIs of the season.

TAMUK regained the lead in the top of the third with a two-RBI single and blew open the game in the 5th with a five spot, taking a 10-3 lead.

Marcus Johnson picked up his team-leading 17th RBI in the bottom of the 5th, bringing home Lake who reached base on a hit by pitch.

The Javelinas went on to score six runs in the sixth and win the game 16-4.
