Tyler, Texas - The Eagles traveled to Tyler for a matchup against the top team in the Lone Star, No. 4 Texas Tyler.
Â
Game 1: No. 4 UT Tyler 7, OC 3
Â
Game one saw the Eagles and the Patriots cut through each other's lineups in the first two innings, with
Jill Dickson picking up a strikeout along the way.
Â
In the third inning is where things got interesting. The Patriots put up seven runs, but four of the seven came after one of the strangest calls of the season. In a 2-2 count with the bases loaded a Tyler batter appeared to ground into a fielder's choice with a clear force out at home, but the ump called the runner safe at the plate. After a brief discussion, an out signal was given, and then, for some reason, the batter was brought back to bat with the 2-2 count.
Â
With the new life given, the batter walked, bringing in another run, and UTT followed that with a two-RBI double. A sacrifice fly RBI put a cap on the seven-run inning for the Patriots.
Â
Oklahoma Christian scored all three runs in a mini rally in the top of the 6th. Kesley Gammage singled, and
Brooklin Bain walked to lead off the inning, putting runners at 1st and 2nd.
Kylie Janzen pinch-hit and made the most of it with an RBI double.
Aaliyah Brown picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly, and Walde brought the third run of the inning across on an RBI single.
Â
Brown's RBI was her team-leading 29th of the season, and Janzen's was her 20th, which gives her the second most behind Brown.
Â
Game 2: No. 4 UT Tyler 9, OC 0
Â
Hannah Pate worked a walk and
Whitney Walde added a hit to highlight game two.
