Game Recap: Baseball | | Kregg Matthews

Baseball falls in the opener, back at Dobson Field tomorrow for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian returned to Dobson Field to take on Texas A&M Kingsville, which was coming off a 3-1 series win at Fort Smith last week.

Kingsville scored a couple of unearned runs with two outs in the top of the first on an RBI double and an RBI single.

OC quickly responded with singles from Hunter Jones and Blake Empkey, and Chance Westervelt brought Jones home with an RBI single to cut the lead in half.

The Javelinas scored three more in the third inning on a two-RBI single and RBI single, taking a 5-1 lead. And in the fourth, they plated two more on a two-RBI triple down the left-field line.

TA&MK picked up their final run of the game in the top of the 5th on an RBI single, giving them an 8-1 lead.

Jayce Meyer, Nathan Kwan, Brady Wiesinger, and Gabe Dixon, combined to pitch four shutout innings, only allowing three hits while they shut down the Javelina offense.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Eagles looked to spark a rally as Ethan Box led off the inning with a single. Michael DiFiore reached on a fielder's choice and stole second base. Jaren Hill brought DiFiore home with an RBI single, and Hank Heiselbetz followed that by reaching base with a single. Grant Lake continued the rally by loading the bases with a single, but Kingsville worked out of the inning to win 8-2.
