Whitehouse hits a walk-off single to sweep Texas Permian Basin

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Behind the bat of Kristen Whitehouse, and strong pitching from Payton Foster and Jill Dickson, the Eagles swept the series on a two-RBI walk-off single from Whitehouse.

Payton Foster worked around the bases loaded with one out, forcing a ground ball, and Kristen Whitehouse fielded it for the double play.

Whitehouse followed that up with an RBI single in the bottom of the first, scoring Brooklin Bain, who got hit by a pitch and stole second before Whitehouse's hit.

The Falcons tied the game in the top of the second on a throwing error, but the Eagles later got out of the inning on a great throw from Tristyn Hamilton to Walde to cut down a UTPB runner at the plate.

OC loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the second but got nothing across. The two teams settled into a pitcher's duel until the 6th inning when Texas Permian Basin took the lead on an RBI double. The Eagles got out of the inning on the same play, cutting down another runner at the plate, this time with a great relay from Hamilton to Whitehouse to Walde.

Nothing happened for either team in the bottom of the 6th or the 7th, setting up OC's top of the order to make something happen in the bottom of the 7th down 2-1. And the drama didn't last long, as Bain reached base on an error, and Hannah Pate followed that with a double that went right over the third base bag. With runners at first and second, Whitehouse stepped up and picked up her second and third RBI on a two-RBI walk-off single.

Jill Dickson picked up her thirteenth win of the season, and with the sweep, Oklahoma Christian is in third place in the Lone Star Conference.
