Eagles tie school record, sweep Falcons in doubleheader

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian tied the school record for runs in a game with 23 in game one against Texas Permian Basin, on their way to a doubleheader sweep at Tom Heath Field.
 
GAME 1: OC 23, UTPB 0
 
The Eagles put up four runs in the bottom of the first, and they did so with four consecutive hits for RBIs. Brooklin Bain led off the with a double, and Hannah Pate brought her home with an RBI triple. Pate came home to score on an RBI double from Kristen Whitehouse, and Whitehouse scored on a Whitney Walde RBI double. Boo Robinson singled, and Kylie Janzen walked to load the bases, and Tristyn Hamilton picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice.
 
OC's offense produced five RBI doubles in the game, with Walde leading the way with two.
 
Jill Dickson pitched two scoreless innings, striking out five of the seven batters she faced. Grace Anderson followed Dickson, picking up the win by combining with Jill for a complete game one-hitter, with the one hit coming on an interesting call with two outs in the seventh.
 
Oklahoma Christian picked up twelve runs in the second inning, the third most in an inning in school history. Bain and Pate each reached base and stole a base, setting up Whitehouse for another RBI on a single. Aaliyah Brown walked to load the bases, and Walde picked up two more RBIs, scoring Pate and Whitehouse.
 
Robinson scored Brown and Walde with a two RBI single, and Hamilton followed that at-bat with a walk. With the runners on first and second, Kelsey Gammage plated them both with a two RBI triple.
 
Pate, who scored a run earlier in the inning, came back up to bat and picked up an RBI with a double scoring Gammage. Whitehouse picked up an RBI in her second at-bat, and Walde got another RBI on a fielder's choice. Kylie Jazen's two RBI single wrapped up the second inning with OC holding a 16-0 lead.
 
Marissa Powell and Kiley Brewster had back-to-back RBI singles in the 3rd inning to give OC a 18-0 lead.
 
OC scored five runs in the fourth inning on a Kandence Brewster fielder's choice RBI, RBI singles from Woodward, Powell and Iltis, and an RBI double from Kiley Brewster.
 
The 23 runs in the game were the most since 2014 against Hillsdale Baptist, and the 20 hits tied for the second most hits in a game in school history. And it was the second time OC has record 20 hits against the Falcons.
 
Game 2: OC 14, UTPB 6
 
Game two got off to a grand start in the bottom of the first. Bain and Pate reached on a walk and a single, and Pate stole second to put runners on second and third. Whitehouse picked up another RBI with a single, scoring Bain, and Whitney Walde followed that with a walk.
 
With the bases loaded, Boo Robinson stepped up and sent a ball over the left-center field wall for a grand slam, giving the Eagles a 5-0 lead after one inning of play.
 
Payton Foster spun two scoreless innings, before Iltis replaced her and ultimately picked up the win.
 
The Falcons tied the game in the 3rd inning, but the lead was short lived. In the bottom of the inning Tristyn Hamilton stepped up and crushed a ball to right field for her second home run of the season, giving OC a 6-5 lead.
 
Pate, who went 5/6 with 3 RBIs, kept the scoring going with an RBI double in the fourth, and Whitehouse followed that with a two-run home run. Kylie Janzen added two more RBIs to her two-game total with a triple, and Tristyn Hamilton picked up another RBI by bringing Janzen home.
 
UTPB scored their 6th and final run on a sacrifice fly in the 5th inning, cutting the lead to 12-6.
 
Brooklin Bain pitched for the first time this season in the top of the 6th, picking up two strikeouts, and hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom half of the inning, giving the Eagles a doubleheader sweep.
