Moonshots from Empkey and Hill look to spark rally before Eagles fall in game one against No. 3 Angelo State

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Eagles returned to Dobson Field to begin a series against No. 3 Angelo State on Friday night.

Blake Empkey looked to ignite the Eagles offense in the bottom of the first, hitting a bomb to give Oklahoma Christian a 1-0 lead. The home run was Empkey's 5th of the season, and team-leading 14th RBI.

Angelo tied the game in the top of the second after a throwing am error after they stole third. And a combination of walks, hit by pitches (HBPs), and singles, gave the Rams a 4-1 lead in the top of the third.

OC cut the lead down in the bottom of the 4th after Empkey Singled, Marcus Johnson reached base on a single to advance Empkey to third, and Johnson stole second. Grant Lake followed that up by dropping a picture-perfect sacrifice bunt to bring home Empkey for an RBI, and to cut the lead to 4-2.

Walks and HBPs allowed ASU to add to their lead in the 5th, stretching the lead out to four at 6-2. And they added a run in th 7th on a couple of hits to take a 7-2 lead.

In the bottom of the 8th, Jaren Hill attempted to spark the Eagles offense with a moonshot to left center, but that would be the last run of the game for OC.

Angelo added two more runs in the 9th to take game one, 9-3.
