Women’s bowling leads Eagles in Indianapolis, finishing the regular season ranked No. 6, men No. 10 in the nation

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Oklahoma Christian University bowling teams competed this last weekend in Indianapolis, at the Hoosier Classic. This is the largest collegiate tournament with 78 men's teams and 66 women's teams competing over two days at Western Bowl.

The OC men's team got off to a slow start on Saturday and found themselves chasing all weekend. They fought hard and were able to climb from the 40s to finish 14th out of 78 teams.  They were led by sophomore C.J. Petrin who finish 6th just 1 pin from the all-tournament team averaging 230.

The OC ladies got off to a fast start and never look back finishing qualifying 4th and making the 8-team bracket match play. The ladies were led by Claire McDermott who finished 9th averaging 213. In match play, the Eagles won their quarterfinal match against Davenport 2-0. The ladies then went on to lose in the semifinals against number 1 seed Wichita State 2-0.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH HAYES

Both teams fought hard all weekend to wrap up the regular season. What an outstanding performance by the ladies' team to make it all the way to the semifinals in the biggest and hardest collegiate tournament of the year. We now wait to see where we are headed in the postseason. The selection show is Wednesday at 5pm CT.
