SAN ANGELO, Texas - Men's basketball (2-7, 0-4) wrapped up the first road trip of Lone Star Conference play with a matchup against the Rams of Angelo State (7-1, 4-0).
 
First Half
The Eagles fended off run attempts from the Rams in the first half as ASU attempted to stretch their first-half lead to double digits. But the Eagles held the Rams lead to eight and battled to cut the lead down to two at the half.
 
Oklahoma Christian did an incredible job protecting the rock, only turning it over twice in the first twenty minutes, and they got scoring contributions from eight different players. Moun'Tae Edmundson led the Eagles in the half with twelve points, and Karlyn Kenner and Quinton Johnson each added six points.
 
Second Half
OC took the lead, going up by three at the 17:08 mark, but Angelo State heated up, shooting over 50% from the field, regaining the lead and stretching it to sixteen with three minutes remaining.
 
The Eagles cut it down to ten with four straight points from Javon Grant, leading to the final score of 86-76.
 
Notes

• Moun'Tae led the Eagles in scoring again, scoring 19 points on 50% shooting and adding 2 assists and 2 rebounds.
• Quinton Johson got the charity stripe 11 times and knocked down 9 free throws to add 15 points.
• Tyrus Baynham had another strong performance with 10 points and 9 rebounds to lead OC on the boards.
• Oklahoma Christian won the rebounding battle 40-35 and got the charity stripe 32 times to the Rams 29.

The Eagles will host Southwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday at 7 p.m. before wrapping up the 2023 portion of the schedule on the 19th at home against UAFS.
