ODESSA, Texas - Men's basketball (2-5, 0-3) was able to overcome a twelve-point halftime deficit on the back of eighteen second-half points from
Moun'Tae Edmundson before the Texas Permian Basin (5-2, 2-1) held the comeback off in the final seconds.
First Half
The Eagles traded buckets with the Falcons early in the contest and were trailing by two just five minutes into the game. Back-to-back threes spurred a UTPB run that would give them the momentum for the remainder of the first half.
Quinton Johnson put together a solid first half, logging nine points to help trim the UTPB lead to twelve just before the break.
At the Half
OC's shooting (43.8% from the field and 33.3% from three) tells the story of the first half, in which UTPB (54.8% from the field and 54.5% from three) outscored the Eagles 43-31.
Second Half
Behind a huge second half from Edmundson, the Eagles stormed back. The Falcons took a ten-point lead with 11:02 remaining, and a run fueled by
Javon Grant,
Jovan Savic, and Edmundson put the Eagles within striking distance with 6:27 left in the game.
Moun'Tae scored seven points in three minutes and gave Oklahoma Christian its first lead of the night with 3:08 on the clock at 67-66. UTPB regained the lead momentarily, but another Edmundson bucket with 34 seconds left put OC up one. Texas Permian Basin responded with a layup, and then a missed OC three led to two free throws for UTPB, giving them a 76-73 victory.

- Karlyn Kenner went 2-3 from beyond the arc while adding 12 points and pulling down a tie for the team-high 5 rebounds.

- The Eagles didn't get the benefit of the charity stripe as UTPB shot an astounding 27 free throws compared to OC's 9.
