Eagles Look to Build on Momentum with First Road Game at UTPB

ODESSA, Texas - Oklahoma Christian (2-4, LSC 1-1) looks to continue the momentum from last Saturday's win by taking on University Texas Permian Basin (5-2, LSC 1-1) on Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT OC 

  • Head Coach Markeith Brown enters his second season with the Lady Eagles. 

  • The Eagles returned nine players from last season, including the team's leading scorer and leading rebounder, Brooklin Bain.

  • The Eagles were picked ninth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll, the second-highest preseason voting since joining the conference. 

  • Brooklin Bain and Asiyha Smith lead the Eagles in scoring, both averaging over 10 points a game. 

  • Bain and Ahniya Melton are leading the team in rebounding. Bain is averaging just over 7 boards a game and Melton is just under 4 rebounds a game. 

  • Kate Bradley, Brooklin Bain, and Asiyha Smith all lead the team with 8 assists so far this season, and each averages 2 a game. 

  • OC is coming off a huge win over West Texas. 

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT UTPB 

  • Head coach Rae Boothe is in her 7th season at UTPB.

  • Boothe's teams are known for their play on the defensive end. 

  • The Falcons finished the 2022-2023 season as the program's most wins in a season. 

  • Kamryn Lemon leads the Falcons, averaging 14 points, shooting 65% from the field, 4.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.1 steals a game. Lemon is currently shooting .850 from the free throw line going 17-20.

  • Alexus Quaadman is another major player for the Falcons, averaging a double-double with 13.3 points and 10.7 rebounds. 

  • The Falcons have a great shooter in Andreea Mancha, averaging 11.6 points, shooting .362 from three and .842 from the charity stripe. Mancha is also averaging 3.1 rebounds and 3 assists. 

  • Avalon Munoz is a reliable source for the Falcons from the free throw line and on the defensive end. Munoz is averaging 8.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.7 assists.
