OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla- Oklahoma Christian (2-4, LSC 1-1) finished their opening weekend of conference play with a dominating win over West Texas A&M (4-4, LSC 1-1) in the Nest.
FIRST QUARTERÂ
The Eagles started the game hot on offense and even hotter on the defensive side of the ball, out-scoring the Lady Buffs 22-13. Senior guard Brooklin Bain started her game with nine points in the 1st quarter. The whole team played lockdown defense as six different Eagles pressured the Lady Buffs to turn the ball over. The Eagles made sure to capitalize on these turnovers, scoring 11 points off of turnovers in the quarter.
SECOND QUARTERÂ
In the 2nd quarter, the Eagles amplified their defense, holding the Lady Buffs to nine points in the quarter. Guard Nakia Cullom, Keira Neal, and forward Jordan Francisco came off the bench and led the Eagles in the quarter. The three of them combined for 15 of the Eagles 19 points.Â

The Eagles led 41-22 at the break.

The girls shot 58.6% from the field and 83.3% from behind the three-point line.

OC's bench outscored the WT bench 20-11.

THIRD QUARTERÂ
The 3rd quarter was a battle for momentum as the teams traded punches back and forth. Bain led the way for the Eagles with seven points in the quarter, with five other Eagles adding points to the board. The Eagles held the lead going into the 4th quarter with the score of 61- 42.
FOURTH QUARTERÂ
The Eagles would hold onto the momentum on both sides of the ball and hold off the Lady Buffs. This was the first-ever victory over the Buff of West Texas, and the Eagles did it hugely, winning 78-56.

The Eagles finished the game shooting 55.1% from the field and went 8-13 from 3, shooting 61.5% as a team.Â

Brooklin Bain tied her season high in scoring with 22 points and grabbed 7 boards. Bain also played great and picked the pocket of the offense twice.Â

Asiyha Smith was the 2nd leading scorer for the Eagles, dropping 13 points.Â

Nakia Cullom continues to give great minutes off the bench and dropped 10 points in the game.Â

Taylor Jackson did the dirty work down low and blocked out everyone as she grabbed 7 boards. Jackson also added 6 points.Â

The bench was the difference for the Eagles as Keira Neal also gave OC the edge scoring 9 and grabbing 6 rebounds.Â

Also coming off the bench, Jordan Francisco also did her job by scoring 6 and grabbing 5 rebounds.Â

Ahniya Melton, Kate Bradley, and Daijah Torns were clutch for the Eagles accounting for 5 steals, 8 rebounds, and 11 points.

This was the women's basketball program's first victory over West Texas A&M.Â
