OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian joins the Smith family and the MTM family in mourning the passing of Dave Smith, an Oklahoma Christian athletics Hall of Famer, member of the 1968 Team of Distinction, and founder of MTM Recognition, who passed away this week.
Smith played an impressive part in one of the best seasons in Oklahoma Christian men's basketball history, averaging over eighteen points and ten rebounds a game on a team that advanced to the NAIA national tournament. Read more about Smith's accomplishments and that team here.
Dave also saw to it that the same "Barn" that he and so many athletes made memories in during their basketball careers would continue to bless Oklahoma Christian athletes for years to come, helping renovate it into a space that now houses OC Athletics workout facilities. The Barn, as it was known during its days as the venue for OC basketball games, is now known as the Dave Smith Athletics Center.
