Wichita, Kan. - The Lady Eagles (1-0) opened their season in Wichita, Kansas, and opened play in the Newman Classic tonight with a matchup against Upper Iowa (1-1).
First Quarter
Upper Iowa came out of the gates strong, taking a 10-3 lead at the 7:16 mark, and another seven-point lead at the 2:56 mark. But a bucket from Brooklin Bain and Trinity Dobbs, and an Aiysha Smith free throw cut the lead down to 18-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Second Quarter
Bain kept the momentum going, helping the Eagles erase another seven-point Peacock lead by scoring eight points in the second quarter, a part of her team-high twenty-two points on the night.
Third Quarter
The Eagles and the Peacocks battled it out in the third quarter. OC kept the lead, thanks to the great play of Bain and great effort on the boards from Taylor Jackson. The Peacocks kept in the fight with a few runs of their own but the Eagles were able to lock down on defense to keep the lead to at least six.
Fourth Quarter
The Peacocks would grab some momentum in the fourth quarter eventually getting the score within two points, but the Eagles never gave up the lead thanks to clutch free throws from Asiyha Smith and Jordan Francisco to put the game away for OC.

Brooklin Bain enters the elite club by hitting 1000 career points. She caped off the great performance with a double-double, scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and adding 3 assists.

Kate Bradley made things happen from three finishing the game with 11 points on 3-6 from behind the arch.
