FORT WORTH, Texas - Oklahoma Christian men's bowling opened its 2023-2024 season this weekend in Fort Worth, Texas, opening it with their first sweep of the SWIBC I and II.
Day One
The men's bowling team opened the season with a win at SWIBC I on Saturday. The Eagles were led by transfer
Adam Atkins, who finished first averaging 240. Atkins became the second OC bowler to roll a perfect game in college competition. Atkins rolled a 300 in game three but didn't stop there, rolling nine more strikes in game four before coming up just short of back-to-back perfect games with a 279.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH HAYES
It felt great to be back on the lanes competing. All three of our teams competed well. Adam was solid all day and led the charge, getting us off to a great start. We had several guys across all our teams roll some big games.
Travis Sorola rolled a 280, and CJ Petrin rolled a 278, just to name a couple.
Day Two
The OC men's bowling team was back in action on Sunday for SWIBC II, going for the sweep after finishing 1st on Saturday at SWIBC I.
Sunday was more of the same, as the Eagles came out hot and never looked back. The Eagles were led by CJ Petrin, averaging 244 and taking the top spot on the day.
Adam Atkins finished 2nd, averaging 222 after taking the top spot-on Saturday. The Eagles also placed
Evan McDermott on the All-Tournament Team, averaging 219.9 for the JV1 team.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH HAYES
What a way to start the season. The SWIBC I and II were a good test for us to see where we were at to open the season. We got a lot of athlete's games this week to set us up for Wichita in 2 weeks. CJ bowled great today, averaging 244 and getting the win. Adam and Evan also making the all-tournament team was just icing on the cake. I am proud of all our athletes, and the future looks bright.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will be back in action in two weeks when they head to Wichita for Mid States, their first Tier I tournament of the season.
