Eagles fall to UT Tyler

TYLER, Texas - Oklahoma Christian (11-12, LSC 3-7) traveled down to take on University of Texas at Tyler (13-9, LSC 7-4). The two teams came into the match looking to solidify their chances of making it to the conference tournament.

SET ONE 

In a back and forth battle of a first set the Eagles came away with victory. Led by three serving aces from Giorgia Turri, the Eagles played a great all around team effort to put away the set one win. The Eagles would take the set 25-20.

SET TWO 

The Patriot took set two by taking advantage of some mistakes made by the Eagles. Winning the set by a score of 25-16.

SET THREE 

The Eagles jumped out to the early lead in the third set but with a momentum shift the Patriots came back to take the lead. UT Tyler would take set three with a 25-18 win.

SET FOUR 

The fourth set was a long and hard fought battle between the two teams. The Patriots came away with the set victory 25-19, and taking the match 3-1.

NOTES 

  • Giorgia Turri led the Eagles with 16 kills, 4 aces, and 21 digs. 

  • Turri is now 7th on conference for kills with 199 and 1st for service aces with 36. Turri is now 4th in points in the conference. 

  • Annie Davis finished the night with 15 kills.

  • Camryn McGogh had a good night with 9 kills, 1 ace, and 3 blocks. 

  • McGough is currently 2nd in the conference for hitting percentage with .377. McGough is also 8th in blocking with 92. 

  • Megan Rek added 3 blocks to her total and now sits 4th overall in the conference with 96. 

  • Rainey Aven had a strong performance with 25 assists. 

UP NEXT 

The Eagles will host St. Mary's on Friday October 27th starting at 6 p.m.  The girls will then turn around and host St. Edward's University on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.  Come and support the Eagles and enjoy the theme nights. Friday, come in the Halloween costume and Saturday,  find the best western gear around and cheer on the volleyball team.
