AUSTIN, Texas. - Oklahoma Christian women's soccer (5-2-5, LSC 1-2-4) hit the road to continue conference play against the St. Edward's Hilltoppers (4-4-2, LSC 3-3-1) at the Lewis-Chen Family Field. The Eagles dominated early with two goals in the first half and then put the game out of reach with a third in the second half of play.
WHAT WENT DOWN
- After shutting down the Hilltoppers early efforts with a Breanna Wooten save, OC got on the board in the 17th minute as Kyla Lovelace scored her first goal in what was the beginning of a career day for the junior forward. After placing the through ball just past the last line of defense, Ruta Andrews earned her first assist of the day as Lovelace snuck it past the keeper.
- Minutes before half, Mady Castro took advantage of a bad touch by SEU setting up Kyla Lovelace for her second goal of the day in the 37th minute. The Eagles went into half with the 2-0 lead.
- St. Edwards struggled to get anything going in the second half as the Eagles continued to control the match. In the 64th minute, Kyla Lovelace put it out of reach with her third goal, earning a hat-trick – OC's first in the Division II era. Ruta Andrews was credited with her second assist of the day.
NOTES
- Junior Kyla Lovelace earns the hat trick and becomes the team leader in goals, with her hat-trick bringing her season total to 7.
- Freshman Ruta Andrews now leads the team in assists with four, after adding two to her total today.
- OC broke a tie streak, earning its first win of conference play, with the win in Austin.
