Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Eagles (7-9, 3-7 LSC) battled in the first half against the Hilltoppers before a hot shooting second half lifted St. Edward's (13-5, 7-2 LSC) over them.
The Eagles started the game with an
Antonio Gordon 3-pointer before the Hilltoppers got going and held an 11-point lead until there 5:45 in the first half. Back-to-back threes from
Karlyn Kenner and
Shane Perales sparked a 10-0 for the Eagles to cut the lead down to 4 with just under two minutes left in the first half. And then
Moun'Tae Edmundson knocked down a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 39-37 with 1:22 left, but St. Edward's ended the half on a 6-0 run to take a 45-37 lead into the break.
Edmundson and
Jovan Savic led the Eagles in the first half with 10 and 9 points, respectively. Gordon added 8 points to go with 5 rebounds, and 2 steals in the first half.
In the second half, the Hilltoppers came out on fire and didn't look back to come away with the win in the Nest.
The Eagles had a good shooting game, hitting 11 threes and knocking down 16 free throws. They had four players in double-digits and were without leading-scorer
