Ada, Okla. - Women's soccer (2-1-1) traveled to Ada to take on the Tigers of East Central (0-3-2), and they came away with the road win, 1-0.
Â
The Eagles came away with the road with their second clean sheet this week, shutting out a team averaging over 2 goals a game this season. They did so by shutting down the Tigers' offense and allowing ZERO shots on goal in today's matchup.
Â
Ashlee Jackson and
Gabby Goddard combined for the shutout, and
Brooklyn Fink and the rest of the back line locked down the ECU offense all afternoon.
Â
The game-winning goal came in the 88th minute as
Kyla Lovelace (or
Kenley Stockton, depending on whom you ask), according to the official stats, scored on a loose ball in the box, putting it in the back of the net. The debate comes as both Kyla and Kenley contacted the ball on the shot.
Â
"The fight in the team was amazing today. We had a few chances that didn't go our way, but I was proud of the team for finding a way to win at the end of the game." coach Dresel said after the game. "East Central is a great team so it was a big win for us on the road."
