Weatherford, Okla. - The women's soccer team (2-1-2) continued their road trip this week with a trip to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State (0-3-2) today in Weatherford at SWOSU Soccer Field.
The game was an offensive onslaught for OC, outshooting the Bulldogs 17-5 on the day. And while they only scored once, the Eagles put 5 shots on goal, including back-to-back shots from
Rani Mueller that were deflected off the keeper into the crossbar.
SWOSU took the early lead on a goal in the 18th minute but was shut down and held to just 4 shots the rest of the match.
OC got their break in the 79th minute with a goal from
Kyla Lovelace, her second goal of the week. The goal came on a shot right inside the box that went into the upper 90.
Brooklyn Fink played a great ball into the box but wasn't did not get credited with the official assist.
Fink's back line play helped in allowing only one goal in three games this week, and her passes led to both of OC's goals.
"Today was our best performance of the season." coach Dresel said after the game. "We were a little unlucky in front of the goal, but the way we played was amazing. Time to get back to work!"
The Eagles will kick off conference play this week at home on Wednesday at 4:30 P.M. against Texas Woman's University.
