OC’s Moore named as finalist for Ultimate’s Donovan Award

OKLAHOMA CITY (June 21, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian junior Elliott Moore is one of five finalists for the Donovan Award, one of the most prestigious honors in college Ultimate.

The website Ultiworld.com announced the list of finalists on Tuesday night. The Donovan Award is presented each year to one women's and one men's player at a Division III institution and is voted upon by players at those schools.

Criteria for the award includes exceptional skill and athleticism on the field; upholding Ultimate's principles of Spirit of the Game, equity and fairness in a person's own actions and the actions of their teammates; and leadership off the field, both on a person's team and in the greater Ultimate community.

Moore, from Austin, Texas, led OC to a pair of national titles during the 2021-22 academic year, as the Eagles won the USA Ultimate Division III crown for the 2021 season in December in a pandemic-delayed event, then took the 2022 season title in May. Ultiworld.com named Moore as a first-team All-America selection after the 2021 season, as well as the first runner-up for the Division III offensive player of the year honor.

The other finalists for the Donovan Award are Beau DeKoninck of Mary Washington (Va.), Josh Felton of Colorado College, Ben Fjetland-Souza of St. Olaf (Minn.) and Leo Sovell-Fernandez of Middlebury (Vt.). The winner will be announced later this month.

The Donovan Award is named after the late Kelly Donovan, who attended Drake and was critical in the development of that university's women's program.
