NORMAN, Okla. (May 18, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian sophomore
Mateo Pulcini received first-team All-America recognition on Wednesday from the Golf Coaches Association of America, becoming the third OC player to earn multiple All-America honors at the NCAA Division II level.
Pulcini, from Rio Cuarto, Argentina, picked up his first two collegiate wins during the 2021-22 season, taking top honors in the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational in Monkey Island and the Oak Tree Invitational in Edmond.
Including the ongoing NCAA Division II Championship – in which he's led the Eagles to the quarterfinals of the match-play portion of the tournament – Pulcini has posted seven top-10 finishes in 12 tournaments and has placed no lower than 16th in any event. He's posted 21 rounds at or under par while recording a stroke average of 71.58 over 36 rounds.
Last season, he received honorable mention on the GCAA All-America lists. The other OC players to receive multiple Division II All-America honors are Sam Johnston (2013, 2014, 2016) and
Trevor Norby (2019, 2020, 2021). Norby was a first-team All-America honoree in 2020 and 2021.
Other first-team All-Americans included Beck Burnette of Lee (Tenn.), Charles DeLong of Grand Valley State (Mich.), Jake Doggett of Midwestern State (Texas), A.J. Ewart of Barry (Fla.), Austin Fulton of West Georgia, Luke Harries of Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.), Francois Jacobs on Arkansas Tech and Joel Sylven of Missouri-St. Louis.
