Pulcini, Armijo, Rodriguez, Brictson receive All-LSC honors

GLEN ROSE, Texas (April 17, 2022) – Four Oklahoma Christian players made the All-Lone Star Conference teams for men's golf, which were announced on Easter Sunday night, on the eve of the LSC Championship tournament.

Mateo Pulcini and Alejandro Armijo each made the six-man first-team list, which was selected by league coaches. Exequiel Rodriguez made the six-man second-team list, while Andres Brictson received honorable mention. OC, ranked eighth in the most recent NCAA Division II coaches' poll, had the most honorees of any LSC program.

Brictson, a senior from Merida, Mexico, also made the five-man LSC All-Academic team for a third straight year. The All-Academic team is selected by the league's athletic communications professionals, with both athletic and academic accomplishments considered.

"It's a great honor for our guys to be honored by the LSC," OC coach David Lynn said. "Mateo has had an excellent season, highlighted by his two wins. Even more impressed hasn't finished outside the top 16. Alejandro also got his first win at OC and had been very steady all year. Exequiel has had an incredible year as a freshman and Andres provides us with a steady veteran presence. I couldn't be more proud of this group as we gear up for a postseason run."

Pulcini, a sophomore from Rio Cuarto, Argentina, who was the 2021 LSC freshman of the year, made the All-LSC first-team list for a second straight year. He won two tournaments this season, the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational at Shangri-La Golf Club in Monkey Island, Okla., and the Oak Tree Invitational at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Okla. Pulcini also twice was a tournament runner-up.

Over 26 rounds in nine tournaments, he's posted a stroke average of 71.85, which ranks second in the LSC. He's recorded 14 rounds at or under par this season.

Armijo, a junior from Rio Rancho, N.M., broke through to record his first win for the Eagles (and his second collegiate win) in the South Central-West Region Preview at Pueblo Country Club in Pueblo, Colo., in early October, finishing that tournament at 8-under-par after a final-round 5-under 66. He has five top-10 finishes in nine tournaments and has recorded a stroke average of 72.96 over 26 rounds. Eight of those rounds were at or under par.

Rodriguez, a freshman from Buenos Aires, Argentina, recorded four top-10 finishes during his debut season, along with a scoring average of 73.73 over 26 rounds (seven of those at or under par). He tied for eighth in an otherwise all-Division I tournament, Arkansas State's Bubba Barnett Invitational at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark., and also tied for eighth in the Houston Classic at The Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.

Brictson has won five tournaments in a storied career. This season, he has a scoring average of 74.19 over 26 rounds, with a high finish of fourth in the South Central-West Region Preview and seven rounds at or under par. He was a 2020 Division II All-America honorable mention selection and twice has made the All-South Central Region team. He was the 2019 Heartland Conference individual medalist, earning all-conference first-team honors that year as well as in the LSC in 2020 and 2021.

To be eligible for the LSC All-Academic honor, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.3 grade-point average and be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically. After earning his bachelor's degree in Finance, Brictson now is working on a master's degree at OC. He's a two-time Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholar and a three-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

In 2020, the College Sports Information Directors of America selected Brictson to its Academic All-District At-Large team.
