KINGSVILLE, Texas (March 4, 2022) – Two Texas A&M-Kingsville pitchers limited Oklahoma Christian to six hits as the Javelinas downed OC 8-0 on Friday night in the opening game of the Lone Star Conference baseball series.
Of the six hits for OC (6-11, 6-11), only one went for extra bases, a double in the third inning by
Blake Empkey off TAMUK starter Kolby Lunsford (3-1), who pitched the first seven innings before being relieved by Hunter Kloesel.
TAMUK (11-4, 9-4) scored in each of the first five innings against OC starter
Isaiah Alvarenga (2-2). Shelby Becker and Nick Wolff each had four hits for the Javelinas.
OC relievers
Hayden Boyd and
Bob Britton combined to not allow an earned run over the final three innings.
The Eagles and TAMUK will play two seven-inning games on Saturday starting at 1 p.m., then a single game on Sunday, also at 1 p.m.
